Many items in our home need to be replaced regularly, and many of them are quite obvious. Why you have to know? For example, you know you need to replace a bouquet of fresh flowers when the flowers begin to wilt. And you probably know that you should replace kitchen towels when you notice permanent stains or holes. But not everything that needs to be replaced in your home is as obvious as flowers or towels!

In fact, there are many less obvious household items that need to be replaced regularly. And the only way to know that they need to be replaced is by knowing how often they need to be replaced! But never fear, because you have come to the right place. Today I will share a list of the some common household items that you may not have thought about replacing. I will also tell you why it is a good idea to replace these items and how often you should do so. You should replace your sponge every 2 to 8 weeks, depending on how often you use it. If you wash the dishes by hand, you’ll want to replace them more often than if you mainly use a dishwasher. Boil or microwave your sponge about once a week to keep it clean between uses, or simply pour it on the top shelf of your dishwasher.


This applies to the pillow on which you sleep every night and not necessarily to your decorative pillows. Those are probably fine!

The pillows can harbor bacteria, dead skin cells, dust mites and other unpleasant things. You can replace your pillows less frequently if you wash them regularly, but you should replace the pillow once you stop feeling supportive. Learn how to wash your pillows in the link below!

Toilet Brush:

If you feel the toilet brush looks quite dirty and dirty, it is probably time to replace it. They are not very expensive, and it is better to be safe than sorry!

Contact Lens Case:

You must replace your contact box every 3 months to avoid the risk of getting an eye infection.

Fire Extinguisher:

First of all, yes, you must have a fire extinguisher in your home that is properly maintained: – You never know when you will need it! And once you have a fire extinguisher in the home, be sure to check the manometer about once a month. The needle should be in the green zone. If the needle is not in the green area, it is time to recharge or replace your extinguisher.

Vitamins & Medications:

Vitamins, supplements, and other over-the-counter medications usually have expiration dates listed on the package. If you only take vitamins or painkillers from time to time, it is probably a good idea to check if they have expired!

Water Filter:

If you have a jug of water with a filter, or if there is a filter in your refrigerator’s water dispenser, you should replace it regularly. The owner’s manual that came with your refrigerator or carafe will indicate how often the filter should be replaced.


Replace your toothbrush every 3 months or so. Your toothbrush can harbor bacteria over time and the bristles can wear out and wear out. Replacing your toothbrush regularly ensures that your teeth and gums will be properly cleaned.


You should replace your eye makeup every 3 months to help prevent an eye infection. Dispose of powders, including eye shadow, foundation, blush and bronzer, after 2 years. The liquid and cream makeup will last about 1 year.
